Class Descriptions
Mindfulness-based Yoga
This all-levels class offers a psychological approach to the practice of yoga. Each class features a specific theme and tempo that integrates the practice of yoga postures (asanas) and breath-movement flow (vinyasa) with mindfulness and meditation. Ideal for students interested in developing a mindfulness-based yoga practice while building physical strength and reducing stress.
Vinyasa Yoga
This class offers a fluid approach to the practice of yoga. Students move through a sequence of postures (asanas) carefully arranged to create a meditative flow that is guided by breath. Each class consists of a series of flows (vinyasas) that vary in pace, from slow to dynamic, to help students connect breath and movement as they smoothly transition from one pose to another. This class is recommended for non-beginners as it does not focus on specific asana instruction.
Yin Yoga
Discover this gentle, yet deeper form of restorative practice. In Yin you stay in asanas for a longer period allowing one to get deep into the connective tissues and joints to mobilize and strengthen joints and fascia. Enjoy new depths in postures, better range of motion, and an increased flow of energy only achievable through reaching these deeper areas of your “self”. All levels.
Weekend Warrior Yoga
Taught by rotating instructors. Intermediate level.
Journey Through the Chakras
7 different classes of Hatha Yoga postures designed to stimulate and balance each of our body’s energy centers. The classes for the lower 3 Chakras (Root, Sacral and Solar Plexus) are geared to physical strength, power and balance while the upper 4 Chakras (Heart, Throat, Third Eye and Crown) are more geared to flexibility, spirituality, compassion and communication. Intermediate level.
Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini Yoga is the Yoga of Awareness. In Kundalini Yoga we harness the mental, physical, and nervous energies of the body and use those energies to get deep within the Soul. Kundalini combines breath, mudra, eye-focus, mantra, body locks, and postures to balance the glandular system, strengthen the nervous system, expand lung capacity, and purify the blood. It moves energy up the spine and brings balance to the body, mind, and soul.
Pilates
Pilates classes strengthen the spine, alleviate back problems, increase muscular flexibility, reduce tension and improve joint pain to arthritis sufferers. Studies have shown that Pilates increases bone density and helps fight osteoporosis. Breathing is also improved, which aids relaxation and reduces anxiety. Pilates increases muscle strength and shapes the body for a longer, leaner look. Stronger abdominal muscles help to improve balance and give you a flatter stomach. Pilates is great cross-training for any sport or activity.
Prana Flow
A challenging, fun class with emphasis on breath, movement and alignment. Students flow through vinyasa poses with an inhale or exhale and are encouraged to challenge themselves and release fears. Classes also vary with a Kundalini practice whereby energy is brought from the base of the spine to the crown of the head. A class which is sure to awaken the spirit and balance your chakras! Intermediate level.
